Zakiah Atwy

Zakiah Atwy currently holds the Secretary Treasurer’s position at CUPE 4000, as of May 2022. She started working at the Ottawa Hospital in July 2006 and got involved in the Union as a Clerical Director in 2017 while working as a Systemic Therapy Treatment Booking Coordinator at the Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Centre (IGFCC), which falls under the Civic Campus site. She currently sits on CUPE 4000’s Social Committee, Women’s Committee, Joint Job Evaluation Committee (JJEC) and Bargaining Committee. As well as the Health and Safety Committee at the IGFCC for the last 13 years and was the Labour Co-Chair for 6 of those years. Zak is the Hospital Rep on CUPE Ontario’s Healthcare Workers Coordinating Committee (HCWCC) as well as a member at large on CUPE Ontario Women’s Committee. Her vision for our local union is a future where each of our members is empowered, respected and supported in their critical role within the organization. She’s dedicated to prioritizing the well-being, fair treatment and safe working conditions of all our CUPE 4000 members.
